Dental Plans

MAPFRE offers two comprehensive dental plans through BlueCross BlueShield:

  • Low Plan
  • High Plan

Each option offers you access to BlueCross BlueShield’s extensive network of dental providers. When you receive services from in-network dentists, you’ll pay less out of your own pocket, because these dentists have agreed to discount their fees for plan participants. You can always choose a dentist outside the network, but you may be subject to higher out-of-pocket costs.

Beginning in 2024, covered family members who are under 13 will have 100% coverage up to the annual maximum for covered dental services excluding orthodontics. (This applies to both in- and out-of-network services, though out-of-network dentists can balance bill.)

Maximum Rollover Benefit

The dental plan rollover benefit allows you to save dental funds for use in the future. If you do not reach your annual dental maximum, BlueCross BlueShield will roll over a portion of your unused dental maximum into an account, which can be used in future years if the plan’s annual maximum is reached.

IF you submit at least one claim in the calendar year

AND your total year claims don’t exceed:

$500 – Low Plan

$800 – High Plan

THEN, you can roll over to use next year and beyond:

$350* – Low Plan

$600* – High Plan

RESULTS: Your accumulated rollover total is capped at:

$1,000 – Low Plan

$1,500 – High Plan

*Amounts shown are applicable if all services are with in-network providers.

Dental Blue Enhanced Benefits

Additional support is available for those enrolled in the dental plan who have certain conditions. Good oral health leads to better overall health so the Dental Blue plans include enhanced benefits for those with diabetes, coronary artery disease, stroke, oral cancer, Sjogren’s syndrome or who are pregnant. The MyBlue website and App gives you all of the information you need to manage your dental plan. Go to www.bluecrossma.org and click on the blue ‘Sign In’ button to register.

ID cards for 2024 will arrive before coverage begins on January 1, 2024. New hires after January 1, 2024, should expect their ID card to arrive 7 to 10 days after submitting their enrollment.

With the MyBlue mobile app, you can:

  • Find a network dentist
  • Access your ID card

The app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
